im very happy because my life has changed since i joined collide..
my love to God has increased..

last time, i was quite lazy to go to church, but then now no more..
if i sing, i feel my heart also sing for Him..and all is because of Collide..

And below is her next email to Collide.

i think nowadays i love Him more than i did last time..
He did soo many beautiful things in my life..
i want to share with u..
i just finish all my exam about 3 weeks ago..
everytime before i had exam on those days, i always pray and surrender all in God’s hand..
now my stream is normal academic n my aim is to go to express stream next year..
God is really good indeed..

Today my teacher let me know overall my mark for the whole year..
i meet the criteria to go express stream!
although im not top 1st in my class, im happy enough to know that im able to achieve my goal..
it was amazing!!
i believe God walks side by side with me during exam’s time..
He knows what and when to please us..
God is good!!

This letter was written sometime in 2004 by one of the Colliders.

Dear Heavenly Father,

For days I couldn’t feel your touch and love, for days I cried but I was numb. I even came back to my old days, did things that I promised you not to do any more, started to hurt myself again just because I wanted to know if I could feel anything, started to lose hope in this life again. I fell deeper and deeper into my dark days, because I couldnt feel anything any more. I used to be able to feel my hands clinging to your white robe, but this time, I lost my grip, my hands were searching for your robe, but there was nothing there. I am tired, I had been fighting this battle by myself, tried so hard to get what I wanted, tried so hard to go against your will. But everything seemed to be to no avail, so distant. I knew you would never leave me, but I just couldnt feel you, that is the thing.

But, thank you Lord, even though I was trying to rebel, you still love me every single day. I had been crying out to you, I wanted to be on fire again for you and you answered me. For you touched my heart again using little Danny, the one that I didnt expect at all to feel your love from. Everyone knew that he has behaviour problem, but on that day Lord, how amazing is your love for me, how great is your miracle. No one could expect little Danny to cling and show compassion to anyone, but he showed that to me that day, the day after I was hurting myself again. It was really such a miracle coming from little Danny. You know what I need best, Lord, you know that I was in my deepest pit again, and you do work in mysterious ways. I still felt a little numb but I could feel a little bit of your love coming from little Danny and the children at church. Even though it was just a little touch, it was a start. It did matter; it made my days so much better, kept me going for awhile until I saw them again. I know little Danny didnt realise what he did have comforted me a lot, he gave me a little spark again for this life. Amazing, Lord, how you used him to touch my heart. I feel loved and needed again, by him and by the little children. I can see how they cherish me and thats how you cherish me too.

I am sorry, Lord, for the bad things I have done for the past weeks. This flesh is rebelling, but you know my deepest heart desire, to see you face to face at the end of this short chaotic life. Help me and teach me, Father, to cherish my life, to cherish every little thing you give to me, to cherish everything I have. Lord, I still feel numb, but at least, my heart warms a bit. Help me too, Father, to come back to you. Even though there are times I want to hurt myself again, I know you still love me, you are there and watching with sorrow when I do it, but still you love me. I can feel your love again, my Heavenly Father. I cant see you but I can feel you watching me from above. I cannot promise I wont harm myself again, I am afraid that I will, this flesh is still strong, but Lord, let your love overpower my flesh, because I love you and the most beautiful thing is because you first love me.

I believe you want to show me that I’m still worthy and wanted in this life by using little Danny. If it was some other adult who makes me feel this way, I dont think it will help me a lot, either I will react with suspicion or I will cling to that person, be dependant especially if that person is the opposite sex. Instead, Father, you use little Danny with his innocence and childlike faith. He doesnt have to pretend that he likes me, he doesnt have to pretend that he’s happy with me, and I dont have to pretend and put up my wall. Who would have expected that I would feel your love from that little troublemaker? But if people just stop judging and have a real good look at his heart, people will notice that he’s just an ordinary kid who needs extra dose of loving. He has been rejected by so many people in his life because of his behaviour, that I believe make him even misbehaves, because he feels that no one loves him, he does those bad things to get attention without him realising it. But see how he reacted to my compassion? It’s such a wonderful thing to see coming out from little Danny. Such a handful yet beautiful little boy.

Anyway, I can see again how my life is so precious to you, Father. You try to interfere every time I want to harm myself even worse. You know every bit of me, you know that deep down I am so lost without you, deep down I don’t want to hurt myself because if I do, I won’t be seeing you. I won’t be spending my eternal life with you, sitting with you side by side, holding your hand; worshipping and singing you praises. Isnt that the most beautiful thing a mere human being can have? Being with our Heavenly Father..

Sometimes I feel like giving up, but you never give up on me. Now, day by day, I can feel more of your love, and today Father, I can feel your hand again touching my cheek and comforting me. I can see now that I’m like a raw pearl. Problems and circumstances will make me shine through the dirt and polish me till I become a beautiful pearl of you. Keep me strong, Father, till the end of my life because I want to see myself becoming that gorgeous pearl of you.

Thank you, Lord for loving me so much and keep interfering with my flesh ambitions, so that I can live according to your perfect will. For God will not harm me but give me a plan of hope and future.

I wanted to give a factual report of updates on the Charity Drive for Collide, so I checked through my emails and realized… wow, it’s been a long chain of emails to get to where we were on 26^th July 2008. So I decided to forget about the factual updates and just give you the heart of it (in other words, I’m too lazy to track back all my emails).

Giving is not as easy as I thought it would be. In the beginning, our youth pastor, Davin, shared the idea of asking charity organizations to just give us a wishlist of items they would need, and we’ll just… deliver. So I thought, okay… that shouldn’t be tough. I mean, charity organizations would just LOVE to receive donations, right? All we had to was just to ask and then give, and many people will be blessed by us.

After a blast of many emails to many different organizations in Singapore, only FOUR responded, one of which had quite a complicated request and the other would have to go through complicated procedures. So to make a long story short, we ended up with TWO, Salvation Army (for the children of their Family Services) and PERTAPIS Children’s Home.

They asked how many people are we expecting to attend the event and with full of confidence, I told them “1000.” And it was right after that then I started wondering, “1000? 1000! That’s a whole lot of people. What if 1000 didn’t turn up? What if nobody brings the donations?” Ah, me of little faith… in the heart of giving that all of you have. Yes, we did have less than 1000 attendees, but you did bring your stuff and many of you brought such an abundance of the items that we asked for on the list that we were concerned we wouldn’t have enough boxes to pack them in. Awesome!

So at the end of the day, we received more than what we had asked for from you guys and God provided for what we had expected out of this whole Charity Drive, which is just to bless others, period. The organizations thanked us and appreciated the gifts, one of them even encouraged us that whatever it is we’re doing, we’re on the right track.

I believe this is a lesson learnt (for future Collides) and humbling experience for us in the Collide Team. That we’re not trying to be heroes when we say we want to do acts of social justice and expecting exuberant appreciation from those who receive our gifts. Because at the end of the day, it’s not about us.

Nor are we trying to be Santa Clauses who choose who we want to give to (to only those who have been ‘good’) and then drop in quietly with our gifts before riding back out until the following year. Spreading God’s love and mercy through blessing others is a LIFESTYLE. Our walk with God is just incomplete without it. So thank you guys for your outpouring of love through your gifts! You have made many children happy

Its now 1030pm, Tuesday night. Still can’t digest what took place at Collide last Saturday. Six months of tough preparation culminated in a 4 hour gathering that seemed too short. It was a long and hard process – preparing, practicing, getting the word out on the streets. Much sweat and sacrifices made by all involved. Many times we fell short, but God miraculously pulled us through. Whatever happened on that day seemed so much bigger than all of us, and at the end of the day, no one could boldly claim “we did it!” … Yes we did what we had to, we did what we could, but God took what was in our hands and upsized it to a G-O-D thing.

God’s presence saturated the place right from the start. I guess my favorite moment of worship was when the line “until all that’s left is You” was repeated over and over again by the 650+ crowd. A spontaneous cry of this generation wanting to deny self and follow Jesus.  What an awesome moment!

Something new was birthed that day. It was not just a cool event with a bunch of youth groups jumping and singing together in one place. But it was a generation gathered in desperate pursuit for God. With hearts as one, hungry for the things of Him, worshipping, praying, giving, and crying out to God. Longing to see a spiritual awakening sweep across this land.

Collide the gathering may be over, but Collide the movement is just beginning…

Because we want to bless our friends from Salvation Army and Pertapis with the daily tangible things that they need.

Micah 6:6 starts of with a question asking “With what shall I come before the Lord, and bow myself before God on high? Shall I come before Him with burnt offerings? Will He be pleased with thousands of rams?”

It goes on to say that God has told us what is good and what is required of us, which is to do justice, to love kindness, and to walk humbly before God.

Proverbs 29:7 says that the righteous care about justice for the poor.

Proverbs 14:31 says that when you are generous to the needy, you honor God. Read through the life of Jesus in the gospels and you’ll find that He always had time for people in need.

The Bible is filled with verses talking about God’s heart for justice. Loving and giving to those in need is a huge thing in God’s heart. We don’t want to just worship God inside the church with our songs, but we want to go out and worship in the streets through our giving. We believe that the Church and communities of believers should be at the forefront of acts of justice and kindness, doing all it can to be an extension of God’s love to the community and making a difference in the lives of people.

On monday… YOUTH DAY!… a couple of us (like 15 of us) were on Orchard Road inviting everyone and anyone we met to COLLIDE It was both challenging and interesting… Some people were receptive… others were alright… some were pretty excited to come after we told them about it. Its pretty painful getting rejected by someone haha we noticed that as soon as you start walking towards a person, that person would suddenly start speeding up and change the direction of their walk hahaha someone even ripped one of our namecards in half right in front of our faces!!!!! ouch!! BUT if you were one of those people who listened to us talk for a minute or two and accepted our invites or at least took a namecard from us, we want to say thank you for being such nice pedestrians we hope to see you on the 26th… Now we know how those people who give out brochures or conduct surveys on the streets feel… and next time i pass by one of them, I’m gonna be nicer hahaha… 16 more days to COLLIDE maaaaan!!!!!!!
